The once snugly Horatio has become a master biter. He bites everything and everyone. Things he likes to bite:
- Mom's Fingers
- Toilet Paper Tubes he used to love running around with on his head
- Cat Ball toy with bell
- Pieces of toilet paper or paper towel he used to love shredding
This behaviour started about 2 weeks ago. Slowly, a nip here and there. Now it seems constant. Mom ignores bites to her fingers and holds Horatio for long duration after the bites so that he doesn't associate biting with getting rid of humans.
Hopefully it is a phase. Mom is going to buy a whole bunch of new toy's for Horatio. She is thinking the biting is a sign of boredom and that new toys may provide new stimulation and outlets to release energy.

But look at his innocent little angel face! How can a hog that looks so precious and sweet be a biter? He's a master manipulator, I tell you! ;)
Gerber went through a biting phase around 2 years old, lasted about 2 months, never drew blood, just seemed to wanna taste everything with his teeth, good luck and keep the toes faar away, that really hurts...alot.
My Sammy is going through a biting phase (at least I hope it's a phase!)right now. It is really not pleasant at all. One thing I'm starting to notice is that he's more likely to bite when he's in an environment that may be overly stimulating. Just a thought...
Unfortunately Horatio bites everyting and anything that has to do with being outside of his cage. Even quite snuggle time in his favourite blanket stresses him out. He even tries biting through the blanket to make his point clear.
What sorts of things over stimulate Sammy?
I've noticed that having the TV on too loud seems to make Sammy jumpy, as does the air conditioner. He just started biting about a week ago, so I'm still trying to figure out what the problem is. I also think he's quilling, which probably makes him extra-sensitive to different stimuli.
